Old world meets new in this elegant zimmer that overlooks the main street in Safed.

The ‘sister’ unit of the Metzuda, this lovely guest house is named for its magnificent views of the Meron Mountains. Walking under a grapevine and up a pathway, the entrance to the Meron is adjacent to the main door of the Metzuda. Stepping inside, you enter the kitchenette with a porcelain sink atop an antique wood hutch. The kitchen has a kettle, microwave oven, fridge/freezer, single burner hotplate, plates, glasses, mugs, wine glasses and cutlery. For guests who are kosher and shomer Shabbat, there is an urn, a hotplate and Shabbat timers for your use. The two sets of cutlery are marked meat and dairy. A quaint wrought iron table and three chairs offer a perfect spot for sipping your morning coffee, complete with views across the mountains.

Just off the kitchen, a ladder leads up to the loft. Easy to access, the loft is a great place for children to sleep. Looking like a room right out of a fairy tale, children and teens alike will be enchanted by this delightful hideaway with four single beds, side tables and reading lights.

The main bedroom is set at the back with large windows looking across the Meron Mountains. It has high ceilings, two wrought iron beds, and an old world rocking chair with a foot stool – the perfect place to relax with a book. The quaint bathroom has tub and shower and is located within the master bedroom.

A doorway leads from the bedroom to a romantic balcony with ornate stone columns, a Moroccan-style table with chairs, and wrought iron swings. From here you can observe the action the main street, plus enjoy views of the old Crusader fortress above and the majesty of the Meron Mountains to the west. The Metzuda and the Meron share the large balcony.

Additional Information: All rooms are air conditioned and heated and have space for hanging up clothes. Guests can enjoy free internet access.This unit has only one bathroom. You can request an extra bed and/or crib. There is street parking below – some free and some paid.

The Meron and Metzuda units share the large balcony. Shops plus restaurants are right outside, while the Old City of Zefad is a five-minute walk away. A synagogue is minutes from the zimmer.

Note: Larger groups or families can take both the Meron and Metzuda units. When taken together, they can accommodate up to 14 guests.

When you stay at one of the Beit Yosef guesthouses, you are given the option of enjoying a wonderful breakfast at our very own cafe. Nestled in the Artists’ Quarter, our quaint cafe is housed in an old stone home with a large garden courtyard. The breakfast includes coffee, tea or lemonade, choice of freshly baked breads served with butter and jam, eggs, Israeli salad, hummous, tuna, an assortment of chesses and olive pate. Breakfast is served from 8am to 10 am.
