Set in an old stone courtyard, the Garden Suite sleeps six comfortably.
Tucked amidst a maze of ancient cobbled paths, the charming Garden Suite guest house takes you back to another era. This home has inspired many, including Israeli artist Aliza Naor, who used to live and paint here. A pedestrian path leads through an old archway and into the garden where grapes, tangerines and roses tumble against a stone wall. Relax in the courtyard with a tea – a table with four chairs awaits you.
A domed living room offers an antique wooden table and six chairs. Looking out the dining room window, you will see ancient stone walkways and the Meiron Mountains beyond. A cozy couch turns into a bed at night with a single stowaway bed underneath to comfortably sleep two. A small grotto-like stone bathroom has a toilet and shower. Just outside the door is a hand-carved mirror and a Jerusalem stone sink sitting atop a brass stand.
In an alcove is the kitchenette complete with sink, fridge/freezer, microwave oven, kettle, one-burner hotplate, instant coffee, a selection of teas, sugar and milk. Mugs, glasses, wine glasses, plates, bowls, as well as meat and dairy cutlery are provided for you. For those who are Shabbat observant, there is an urn, hotplate and Shabbat timers in the room.
Stepping up from the living area, you enter a sitting room with its magnificent exposed stone dome. Here, a second couch turns into a bed, complete with second bed tucked underneath. There is cable on the flat screen TV. Guests can enjoy free internet access.
Just beyond is a romantic domed bedroom. Two single Moroccan-style wrought iron beds have blue flowered bedding, while antique side tables and tiffany bedside lamps add old-world ambiance. The domed en suite bathroom has a toilet plus a rain head shower set against the exposed stone rock wall.
Additional Information: All of the rooms have air conditioning/heating and hanging space for clothes. The shops and restaurants of Safed are steps away, while the synagogues and art galleries of the Old City are a ten-minute walk. Guests can park two minutes away on HaPalmach Steet, which is just one flight of steps above this guest house. The Garden Suite sleeps six guests comfortably. You can request an additional pullout bed and/or crib to accommodate up to eight people. Note: Larger groups or families can take both the Garden Suite and Garden Studio units. They are connected by a bedroom door and share the courtyard. When booked together, they can accommodate up to 8 guests.
